Hi, I am taking classes towards getting an associates in marketing, because I have a lot of interest in marketing and advertising, but my major is political science. I wanted to know if anyone thinks I should double major in poli sci and marketing. Also how high are my chances of finding a good job upon graduation. I am planning to either go to law school or get my MBA after graduation as well. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Although it is not a double major I see too often, I think it makes a lot of sense. If you go into politics, you need to know how to market yourself. If you go to law school, you would get a good grounding in business which may help you in some cases, and also if you were to establish your own practice later on. As a marketing professor with a law degree myself, it makes sense to me.

For example, these are all kinds of marketing campaigns:

Contract With America
Tea Party
Contract From America (most recent from Tea Party)

Why don’t the Democrats get into this kind of marketing game?

First off the Tea party has NOTHING to do with either party. You should see the let I wrote the GOP the other day, scathing is too mild a word and passed it around with fellow tea party goers and most thought i was too mild.

2nd what about moveon.org that is by far the largest propoganda machine in the history of the planet. The ACLU has become the legal arm of the Democrat party but also a large marketing machine for them. The Democrats stole most of the environmental groups away from environmentalists. Today environmentalist = hard core Leftist and people like me were essentially driven out of the movement by the Marxist and anti-environmental politically charged ideas of the groups. MSNBC and NBC more than equal Fox in terms of funding though probably not in viewership. Nobody takes ABC serious on either side. Magazines like GQ and Playboy have long pushed Leftist agendas. Yes I actually read a couple of the articles and not because I had too. When my gfs or ex-wife asked I was honest I bought those mags for the pics. The articles were rarely worth printing.

The contract with America thing isn’t from the Tea Party it’s from Republicans and Fox news people. I don’t want a contract I want them out of DC I mean all of them from both parties. There are a few good people in DC but not enough to make exceptions. I want the budget cut by at least %30 hopefully %50 and ideally by %70. Taxes cut by at least %30 and income tax as well as sin taxes completely gone. Either a flat tax or a sales tax and that’s it. Who needs a contract for that? If you love America and want us to continue as a nation you gotta do exactly that. drastically reduce taxes.

I want the Constitution obeyed. No more Patriot act, Obamacare, CDA, gun control, clipper chip, rico act, no knock warrant nonsense. We ALREADY HAVE a contract for that and it’s called the US Constitution. Why are we even arguing about any of it?

I want honesty and integrity from our "leaders". How is a contract going to help with that? We already have laws against corruption. If they are going to break the laws, betray the nation and spit upon the voters how is a contract going to make a difference?

I see zero need or use for a contract.

I was watching how these politicians keep telling us we need to suck it up and pay more. You need to bail out companies, you need to bail out people who can’t pay their mortgage, etc.

Anyone else tired of the BS? I work hard and pay my taxes. Isn’t that what being an American is all about. Any charitable giving and work I do is none of the governments business.

Isn’t it Anti-American dream to have some weasel tell you how you should live you life?

No Guilt here ! Hey , Obama gave us all the signs we needed to run his azz out of the country before the election ! However , due to all the uninformed voters it didn`t matter to them … Here`s Yer` Sign ::::::::::::::::: Obama Ditches The American Flag

Barack Obama used donations to refurbish and repaint his campaign plane, and has removed the flag of the United States from the tail of the plane.

[T]he plane that once had an American flag on its tail now sports the Obama “O.” “Change We Can Believe In” and the candidate’s website are splayed across both sides of the fuselage, making this 757 anything but inconspicuous.

This means, of course, that the people of Afghanistan, Iraq, Jordan, Israel, Germany, and other countries will see a plane without an American flag — a plane on which the sole symbol is all about one man. Barack: Afghans and Iraqis won’t be voting for you in November. But they will notice that you failed to represent yourself as a proud American citizen while you are abroad. We’ve noticed too.

As a patriotic American citizen, I am embarrassed that a presumptive presidential candidate would fail to display a core symbol of the United States of America.

As a patriotic American citizen, I’ve been somewhat concerned about Barack Obama’s failure to put his hand over his heart during the playing of the National Anthem as well as his blather when he was forced to explain why he didn’t wear the popular flag pin.

As a patriotic American citizen, I am deeply concerned that the Democratic party may nominate a candidate who is solely focused on displaying his OWN image and symbols rather than those of his party and his country.

Not only is his plane’s symbolism unpatriotic, it is also narcissistic.

:::::::

The term ‘marketing’ is akin to ‘selling’. And in America, sex, money and fame sell. So there is no surprise when we end up with leaders that are not who they proposed to be…it was just really effective marketing. You get what you pay for…
